“Hi. You’re new here.”

“Yes. My name is Willie and I’ll be your waiter for this evening.”

“Hello, Willie. Would you mind clearing the silverware?”

“We’ve brought our own.”

“Oh. All right.”

“The glasses too. We have our own special stemware.”

“Yes. The same with the plates. We won’t need them.”

“I guess it will be all right. Would you like something to drink before ordering?”

“We’ve brought some herbal sun tea from home.”

“Cranberry almond. It’s delicious.”

“I see. Well, here are your menus. Our specials tonight are… ”

“No need for all that, Willie.”

“Yes. Save your breath. We’ve brought our own.”

“Your own… food?”

“Cold seared tuna steaks with a honey-lime daikon relish.”

“Oriental rice salad.”

“And a carrot and lentil mash.”

“Rhubarb pie for dessert!”

“I see… May I ask you a question?”

“Of course.”

“Why do you bother to come here?”

“Oh, Willie! You are new.”

“Yes, you are. This is our favorite restaurant.”

“We forgot the matches. Would you be a dear and light the candle?”

“Isn’t it pretty?”
